Wordstar discs are not usable with my present computer. I failed to obtain conversion of Wordstar to Windows 98. I entered a great amout of information to My Documents. Now of course they are inaccessable. How can I make the data accessable now?

There is nothing to "convert". It would mean purchasing a whole new program.

OTOH, there is no reason that the DOS version of WordStar
should not be able to run on your Windows 98 computer.
(I DON'T recommend continuing to use a DOS program, but it is do-able.)

I'm assuming that means it doesn't have the proper size floppy drive.

To put the install files that are on your old disks
(I'm assuming they are the old *really* floppy disks),
you might find a local computer nerd who would copy them to a CD-ROM.

You could also hand off this task to a specialty service:
http://www.google.com/search?q=conversion+5-1/4+floppy
(or to a local computer shop.)
While the local guys are copying the install files to other media,
you could give them your computer and have them install WordStar for you.
(Again, I recommend AGAINST this.)

NOTE: This is NOT a Windows question--none of this is really.
There are WordStar User Groups where you should have directed all of this.
If you are going to continue to use that program,
you should make contact with one or more of those.

Here are ways to convert your old files
so they can be used with a modern word processor:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Converting-WordStar-Files

Now, for what I DO recommend: Download and install OpenOffice.org.
It is free software (not just gratis--libre too).

Because it includes a complete Office Suite, it is a BIG download
--you can't download just a *part* of it 8-( --
BUT you can do a *Custom* install and specify to ONLY install the word processor
(if you have limited disk space or some other reason to choose only that).

There's nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you. _________________________________________________________

Try this converter:

www.wordstar.org/wsdos/downloads/utils/wsconv.zip

Load a file, choose .txt or .html and press convert.

See the site www.wordstar.org for other solutions.
