i just upgraded this weekend from a slot 1 p3 to a socket 478 p4. naturally, i switched
out my motherboard, the processor and the ram, but that was all. everything else
is the same. everything works fine, except the soundblaster pci 128. it appears in
device manager with the windows me driver installed.(no conflicts). it appears in
the device list under multimedia properties, but under playback devices for audio
and voice, it says "no playback device." i have tried removing and reinstalling the
multimedia feature of the operating system. i have tried installing the newer driver
from creative (which crashed the system). i tried removing the pci 128 and using
the integrated onboard sound device, same problem. if it helps, the new board is
the gigabyte titan ga-8sr533. any ideas?
