I downloaded Haydn's fix from driverguides.com and followed instructions in the .txt
file. I found kernel devices in Device Manager when I booted in Safe Mode, so I
figured the Registry fix was not the answer. Therefore, I deleted EVERYTHING from
Sound, Video, and Game Controllers in Device Manager (rash, you say) and rebooted
in "unsafe" normal mode. Voila! My ALS4000 sound card is now recognized by Windows
ME. ***I do not guarantee this solution. Not for the faint of heart. Do it at
your own risk. Took a good 5 minutes after GUI loaded up to reinstall kernel and
sound card on AMD 500 MHz K6-2.***
