You might try this: Use your favorite search engine to see if you can find and download COMCTL32.DLL on your laptop . Put it on a floppy. Boot your desktop to a command prompt only (F8 during the boot process). Put in the floppy. then: A: enter at the A: prompt, copy A:\COMCTL32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM Remove the floppy after the copy is completed (no activity on the drive light for the a drive). Reboot the pc. Should work, if there is no further corruption. Take care Don
