Every time I start my computer now, ScanDisk runs in the Thorough Mode, even if the
computer was shutdown properly. This just started happening a week ago. I have
not installed any new programs. I tried to find the problem by using Norton Disk
Doctor (NDD), however, it will not go past analyzing the boot records. It keeps
restarting because it says something is writing to the disk (I closed every open
program before starting to run NDD). How do I find out what is writing to the disk?
Related to this, at times I get an error message that says, "Can't write to hard
drive" What causes this?

Also, whenever I try to defrag my hard drive, I get the error message, "mshis~13
contains illegal entries on drive c:" What is this and how do I fix it?
