Could be because your system BIOS is real old. The older versions of BIOS (system
board hardware) do not support larger disk drives. There are several "limits" that
have been a problem. Most likely your system BIOS only "supports" disk drives up
to 32GB and your system board BIOS is limiting Windows FDISK from seeing the drive
size by only giving it access to the MOD 32 size. (40GB MOD 32GB = 8GB)
First step is to look up your system board and its BIOS version at the system
board or system makers web site and see what size disk drives it supports. Then see
if they have a BIOS upgrade to support larger disk drives. Most have upgrades to
support 64GB limit, or larger.
Another option is to down load or install drivers provided by the disk drive manufacture.
