emachine probably just brushed you off because of the age of the Computer. If it is a Desktop Computer, and has a 1GHZ cpu or faster, and at least 512 megs of Ram, then you might buy a System Builder OEM XP CD. They can be found at online Retailers for about 85 bucks, and just do a Clean install of Windows.
