Many of the OEM manufacturers would put a copy of the install CD on the HDD instead 
of giving you an actual MS type install CD.  Actual MS branded OEM and retail versions 
won't put an I386 folder containing the CAB files on the hard drive IME.  If that 
is what you have on the HDD, and you now have an MS branded install CD, you should 
be able to delete the cab files or the whole I386 directory if you have that on the 
hard drive (HDD).  The pointer should now be set to the CD-ROM instead of the CAB 
files on the hard drive for any updated files Windows might need in the future.  
However, without seeing the machine, I can't say for sure as they could be files 
for the drivers etc.  Can only hazard a guess from a forum though..
