I don't see a problem with continuing to use Win Me. I'm still able to find USB sticks
that support it. ClamWin was suggested because it appeared you want to avoid any
performance hit from a real time scanner, and ClamWin is a standalone. However, Avast!
Home Free Edition runs very well on a plain jane Win98FE box with a 366 celeron,
and Avast will support W9x through the end of this year. That would buy you some
time. There isn't a lot of new virus risk to using WinMe, anyway. Evildoers have
bigger targets in mind. At least one to two tenths of one percent of PC's still use
Win Me. One forum tracked hits and reported about 300 WinMe compared to about 3500
using Win98SE. There have to be a lot of users that don't visit forums. You are not
alone.
