If the above doesn't work, you may be missing the files to make scanreg work, or 
you have some other problems.  Make sure you have the correct boot disk and are changing 
the directory to the proper directory on the C drive to find the files needed to 
execute the command.  The floppy is only to boot the machine to the DOS prompt, it 
won't have the files and backup registry needed to complete the command.  Those are 
on your C drive..  If they are corrupted, you have bigger problems.

You can find a correct boot disk at www.bootdisk.com if you need one.
