Recovery on computer- Lost Internet Connection

I did a system recovery on my computer HP Pavilion XG825, and lost my internet connection. My computer stats are: Chipset - Intel 810 O/S- Windows ME I am sure that it is the PC rather than the cable connection, because I am able to connect with my newer laptop running Windows XP. I keep getting a message that the PCI Ethernet Adapter is recognized, but it can not find the driver. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Windows doesn't have all the drivers when you reinstall. So You need to provide the missing Driver. It could be on a Driver Cd you own, or you can find it on the internet at the Web site of the Manufacture of the Network Card, Motherboard or Computer Manufacture.

How do I find out what driver it needs? Neither the device type or manufacturer show up. The only message is Hardware version 017, and the code is (Code 28).

Install Belarc Advisor, and see if it can tell you what the Network Card is. You can also open up the Computer and get the info off the circuit board.
