ERROR message at startup in HP machine

I am using an ADAPTEC 2930 ULTRA SCSI Card in a new HP xe839 Pavilion Computer. It controls my SCSI external ZIP drive. The ZIP drive performs OK. However, when I boot up my computer it HALTS with an error message:"Expansion ROM not intialized-PCI Mass Storage Controller in slot 02 Bus:01, Device:09, Function:00. Press F1 to Setup, F2 to continue." Pressing F2 allows machine to continue OK. HP claims the 2930 Expansion Card is not covered by warranty and refuses to help. ADAPTEC says HP has a problem with its BIOS when operating in a WINDOWS ME environment. MICROSOFT never answers. Can any one help?

I have the same problem with an Intergraph machine. I installed another AGP card, one with 64mb memory vs. the 4mb card. I get the same message, maybe different slot number, etc. Will moving a card help me?
