I'm not sure if this is a problem specific to the ME OS or not, but I can't get my screensaver to activate. Right-clicking on the desktop to bring up the Display Properities dialog box shows a screensaver is selected and in working order when I click on "Preview". But when I click "Apply" and close the dialog box, the screensaver fails to work.

I am having a similar problem with a Windows '98 Machine. Looks like you didn't get much help from your post, but I thought I'd my two cents.

when i click "preview" i can watch the screensaver ;but after i give apply the scrsvr isn't working when it get its time!!!

check this opion in the registry:It shows whether the screensaver is activated or not. steps: Note:( make sure to back up the registry, before changing any thing in registry ) Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/control panel\desktop Parameter: ScreenSaveActive Type: string Comments: To activate screensaver set this value to 1, otherwise it should be 0.

Mine is on 1 but still isn't working? i apply a screensaver, then when i go back to it, it'll say "none" has been selected?

I had the same problem, seems the problem was something else: the system.ini file in windows folder, was set as a 'read only' file, so changes made to set your screensaver where not saved in the system.ini folder. what to do: find "system.ini" in windows folder; right click; properties; disable the 'read only' option; ok

This registry value is for when no user is logged in, more commonly used in the NT series of operating systems. It has no effect when a login prompt is not present as is common with 9x series operating systems.
