As you know Acrobat 8.13 isn't compatible with 64 bit IE. I expect when you have
both versions of IE installed, Acrobat is getting confused even if you think you
are using the 32 bit version of IE.
I gave up on this issue and installed FoxIT - version 2.3 is Vista 64 compatible;
more convenient than a toolbar that doesn't work :-)
FoxIT is far less "embedded" than Acrobat and consistently suffers from fewer glitches
of which yours is just one. A case of simpler is better, I think
