If you use Firefox as your browser you may want to remove said .NET Framework Assistant after reading the problems some folk have with it. In Firefox click Tools >Add ons >Extensions. Click on .NET Framework Assistant you should see a button to disable and/or uninstall it. Hope this is what you were looking for.
