If you received any updates from Microsoft in the last two days, seriously look at
removing KB973879 from your system.
Everything was fine with my machine, received the update this afternoon, and then
removing any USB device would cause BSOD. After removing this "update", things are
again fine.

But it is really any USB, not just a mouse.
