One thing that is rather common as already suggested it the heat issue. If you have
been doing a lot of work and the machines gotten hot let is rest (cool) a bit before
attempting a restart. Much like a hot car, if you just shut it off, the fan has now
stopped cooling it and it actually gets hotter for a few moments and it takes even
longer to cool before it can reach a temperature that it will allow itself to restart.
Just a little extra advise;
Never use a laptop on a cloth (especially something like a blanket or comforter)
surface, sofa or chair.
Always let it cool (Idle) foe 5-30 minutes before shutting down.
Programs like games and photo rendering use more processor power causing more heat.
In a laptop a fragmented hard drive can cause more heat to build up as it has to
search and seek more taking longer to find a file.
Getting a Laptop fan/cooling unit saves a lot of heat strain on them.
