You should post your questions about W7 in the W7 forum - its just that that's where the people with experience of W7 are more likely to look. Meantime, beware of making any assumptions about forward compatibility ! The first step when investigating a "hang" such as you describe is to look in Event Viewer (look in its 'System' category) for any events with a Red Cross around the time of a hang. Double click the item to get details, maybe post back at that stage ? At a guess, nothing more, you may have an intermittent hardware issue or some corrupt system files. W7 will obviously not fix a hardware issue. It could fix corrupt files, but so would a reinstall of Vista (or maybe a repair/install, or SFC). Get some more information on the problem before thinking about solutions I suggest.
