The biggest benefit I get from going down this route is going back to a two-pane display (remember Windows 3.1?), making the moving of files around (which I seem to do a lot) drastically easier. Basically, Vista was deciding far too much for me, and getting it consistently wrong . . . getting in the way instead of helping me do what I wanted.
