Running Vista Home Premium with SP-1 and SP-2 and all updates, done all the virus and malware scans and registry cleaners, checked this forum and Googled many times but still no solution. The tool bar, command bar or whatever you call it that should be at the bottom of the screen during a slide show disappeared between uses. Right-clicking the mouse brings up a context menu where I can adjust speed, go one forward or one reverse but does not have any way to change themes. I can't think of anything I might have done to screw things up. The program file contents for Photo Gallery are exactly the same as on my wife's laptop, also running VHP. Registry entries appear to be the same except for some screen display values. It's worked for almost two years and then suddenly pfft, it was gone.
