Administrator now needed to finish boot
Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 4:53 pm Posted by Dewey Nelson

When booting my computer now wants the Administrator to enter a password to finish
boot. I must have tweaked something as this just started to happen and I'm the only
one who uses the computer. What must I tweak again so the computer will boot to
Windows Vista automatically?
Thanks a bunch, Dewey

Hi Charlie,
That did not seem to work. It may be asking me as the Administrator to sign-on with
a password.

If you 'THINK' it is asking for the pass word then give it and see if that works!
If so then either you did not do something right in setting up the auto log on or
there is a deeper issue to deal with. That site I gave you is to set up Auto log
on so it is done for you in the background. I must think that you left your machine
like the picture on the page with the user name blank! You have to have a user name.
I am going to need very specific details to proceed further. To start with how are
you logging on if you are not entering the requested password? If that is not what
it wants your description is going to have to be more precise.

Hi Again,
Mt personal life is getting in the way. My daughter and husband will be here soon.
I'll get back to you--probably tomorrow. It does ask for a password and then all
is okay, but I just don't want to be asked. I'll see what else I can tell you and
keep looking myself.
Thanks a mil for your interest. Dewey

When the computer came up today I had to enter my password and I was even more positive
it was asking me as the administrator. I'm often asked to get approval from the
administrator when changing program details and I never have enter a password. So
I found a administrator window where I could delete the password and I did. Now
all is well.
Thanks again for listening. Dewey
