Do you have any type of numbers on your calculation speeds? I just upgraded a Windows
ME machine to XP and have not noticed any major performance changes with any of my
apps, but I don't have any large spreadsheets. I could do some synthetic benchmarking
and see.
You really shouldn't notice any improvements in raw speed, but things do run more
smoothly, especially games and multimedia. I could notice minor glitches in DVD
playback, but now almost all of that is gone, and brackground apps seem to not affect
speed sensitive things like games and DVD's.
However, that's one thing to check. Check out your Services and popup the process
monitor, order by CPU useage, and see if there is anything that's perhaps using a
lot of CPU.
