First off, I have WindowsXP and I would like to edit the msdos.sys file so I can get rid of the startup screen. It explains how to do it in the troubleshooting section of this site but it asks me to do something that XP doesnt allow me to do. It asks me to uncheck the read-only and hidden settings in the msconfig.sys file. I can remove the read-only check mark but the hidden option is highlighted out and I cant uncheck it. By this, I cannot see whats in the msconfig.sys file. When I edit it, it comes up as nothing. Can anyone help me with this?
