Thanks for the tip. I never even bothered to check the error logs, since the error
in question is a "silent" error and causes no other problems other than the entry
in the log file, which is only slightly better than worthless. At any rate, I (apparently
erroneously) assumed that the key in question was there for a reason and didn't want
to delete or suggest that anyone else delete a signifigant amount of registry data.
I'm assuming (haven't tested your fix yet) that removing the key will get rid of
the three Windows Installer windows that flash by when I install *.msi and Installshield-based
programs. I'm still rather amazed that M$ doesn't have a fix for this yet. But then,
they just got around to fixing the stupid "system has recovered from a serious error"
message at every boot that many of my customers are experiencing. Anyway, thanks
for the heads up; I'll give it a shot.
