"WinXP Home"
Boot in "(F8) Safe Mode"
- In your admin/user-account
You want to access "Advanced Security Settings"
Therefor, after "Safe Mode" is booted ...
2LClick - My Computer Icon/link
2LClick - Drive ... Folder (accessable) ...
at the MS-X note: "Access is Denied"
LClick "OK"
Then RClick the "Access is Denied" "Folder"
Then LClick "Properties"
Then LClick "Security" tab
MSG=!Warning "about to take ownership"
Then LClick "OK"
Then LClick "Advanced" button
Then LClick "Owner" tab
Then LClick username/owner/you/...
Then LClick/Check SmallBox "Replace Owner on ..."
Then LClick "Apply" button
Then LClick "Yes" button
Okay, it should be doing task.
Now just wait until the task is completed
More files/directories More time to wait.
Reboot to WinXP when disk activity is completed
You may want to watch processor activity in the
task manager (why?) because WinXP may not provide
any task complete confirmation.
I hope this works for you ... when MS finds-out expect that in the next SP-2 changes
to lock you out.
After this SNAFU at home ... I told my wife ... MS will never again receive money
from me for any product.
I already have a totally "Open Source" computer at home, as things are replace over
the next few years ...
I will only obtain "Open Source" software GNU, Linux, "Open Office" ... Cost less
and works almost as well as the very expensive MS-products.
www.FSF.org
www.openoffice.org
www.mozilla.org
These are non-profit foundations that I make a (not
required) donation to (what I can afford, a few bucks) every year, because I have
been using their software for a few years now. My wife already is using Mozilla browser
and email products ... she told me there ain't much difference with the MS-products
she was using.
