Go to the key specified, scroll down to the last application in your list before the long white space, and look for the key "DisplayIcon" and change the number at the end from a negative number to a positive one. Yes, the reason the icon wasn't displaying was this error. My similar problem was caused by an applet called CombiMovie. Changing the number to a "1" fixed it.
