WinXP is a truly collossal burden for a mere Window98- capable PC to try to bear.

Wail, gnash your teeth, and call upon a Supreme Deity to lessen your pain?

Your PC has now laid down its cross in despair. You must offer it release. Remove that offending beast of evil named WindowsXP, while a breath of life remains in the poor PC. Use the Win98 boot disk's Fdisk utility to kill the WinXP partition, and start over, with the goodness and light of Windows98 leading you forward.

Or something along those lines.
