btw = by the way (or: incidentally)
The correct back-up routine, and utility if one is used, depends on your computer
and your use of it.
Lots of information on this subject is available on the web - just search with Google
for something like:
"back up data windows xp" and you'll get plenty of resources to read.
I don't recommend using the Microsoft backup utility that is available with WinXP
- there are better backup utilities available if you decide even to use a backup
utility.
As to the pop-ups, I addressed that in my above post on Thursday, April 6, 2006
at 8:57 am.
It's not unusual to have more than one instance of IE open and running. The
sources of the 3 that you mention are the same.
I haven't used the "ultimate troubleshooter" so can't help with it - try for
help at its website or the forums there (if any).
As to the processes or tasks that you said load:
-- atiptaxx.exe is a utility for ATI graphic cards - I assume you have one.
-- jushed.exe is a process belonging to Sun Microsystems Java 2.
-- realsched.exe schedules manual update checks for Real Networks products like
RealPlayer.
realsched.exe is not essential, and you could try disabling it to see what effect
it had.
There have been complaints of realsched.exe using alot of the cpu resource; see:
-> http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/realsched.exe.html
