Try running the MGADiag utility from Microsoft:

It does not reveal the entire Product Key, but it does show the last three groups
of the five groups which should be sufficient if you just want to match up a Product
Key for XP to a given computer.
The utility will also check and verify that your installation is Genuine or not---info
that may interest you because the tone of your post tells me that you are interested
in using genuine software.
And it will also tell you if your Office installation (if any) is Genuine. Look
for "Office Status: xxx" where xxx is a three digit number. "114" means nongenuine,
"100" means Genuine, other numbers mean something but so far that hasn't been made
clear.
