The sound on my Gateway 7405gx laptop started to sound slow periodically like a record player slowing down. Then it stopped working at all. I tried updating the driver and reinstalling the driver off the Recovery disk. I even did a clean complete system reinstall off the Recovery disk. Still no luck. The odd part is I can here system beeps in SAFE Mode Only.The sound is a realtek chip built into the motherboard. Is my motherboard shot? Thanks.
