I'm guessing you are getting 100% CPU usage ?
Does this happen if you start up in Safe Mode ? If not its one of your start-up entries:
go into msconfig and uncheck everything except any virus-checker entries, then re-boot
normally. If the issue is resolved than re-check the items one at a time and reboot
(its a tedious process !) until you find the culprit.
If it still happens in Safe Mode then open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab,
click on the CPU column and see what processes are using all the CPU. Be patient,
it may take a while to refresh with the CPU flat out.
