Wot? No Windows Audio Service listed? That looks to be the problem. First try looking
for the registry entry for this, using regedit
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AudioSrv
If
that isn't there, it will need to be recreated (I can give you a link to a .reg file
to restore it if needed) so please post back with what you find in that registry
