There is positively absolutely certainly no way whatsoever that (not) removing the battery had anything to do with it at all. It is just a coincidence. Your PC had malware on it without doubt and something you have done to it has deactivated it, but not just removing the battery. If your machine is working well enough now, please download HijackThis from Trend Micro, install it, run a scan with logfile, then post the log here for us to have a look at, since I am convinced we will probably spot something still lurking in there. I would be surprised if we found the log to be clean, but you might have got lucky! Cheers. Spexx.
