Hello XP fans

I ran into a problem with Internet Explorer as far as gmail went. Explorer would always tell me that I needed a certificate. This sucked big time, because I would always have to click on goto the website anyway.

I liked my little gmail icon, created by New->Shortcut, and it troubled me that this was all happening to me.

So a little poking around, right click on icon and then show the properties, and I found that the shortcut was pointing at https://www.gmail.com/.

Ahhh! The penny dropped. Gmail was allowing this site to be displayed under a secure web page. This was why the error kept on coming up.

So just as any problem I have had the solution was simple, click on the URL field and delete the s. So now this field should read:

http://www.gmail.com

Instead of:

https://www.gmail.com

Now I have no worries at all. Hope someone finds this useful. Don't know if it works for menu items, but give it a go anyway.

Goodbye dumbbeatnix
