So I have nearly finished recovery of a Dell laptop from a trojan attack. The only remaining item I am aware of is that the power icon in the system tray always says "on ac power" regardless of whether ac is connected or not. It iused to show a battery when on battery power, now it always shows the power lead - and doesn't report the state of the battery. I've tried everything I can find on Google (not a lot !), and there's nothing obviously wrong in Device Manager. I would delete the appropriate device or driver and let XP reinstall - but cannot identify which one it is :-( Any clues for me ?
