It is a "poisson rouge". That pesky file has gone thank goodness so it is no longer an issue. I still think we have a hardware fault lurking, judging by the symptoms. A good clean-up was a good thing to do but maybe something is still amiss. I would try running a memory diagnostic on the system - this one from Microsoft is just the ticket. Read the instructions on how to create a bootable disk and give it a go. If you don't mind opening up the machine, re-seating the memory modules can often work wonders too. Cheers. Spexx.
