Don't know why you say that. There are some specific corrupted files that cause problems,
and perhaps others he doesn't know about, but CHKDSK has certainly sometimes done
more good than harm, at least in the 20 years I've been using PCs. I did find some
registry hacks that may clean up the autochk issues and stop it from interrupting
itself. Else, BARTPC should do the trick.
Most people I know how have had problems like his and taken the computer to a shop
have ended up with fresh installs of their system, which is not what he needs.
