Initially, I get the usual CHKDSK is starting message, then after a few seconds I get the message telling me that CHKDSK has been cancelled -- as if I had pressed the ESC key to cancel it, though I did not touch the keyboard (or mouse). Very strange. It's not that CHKDSK stops because it can't figure out what to do, or that it crashes. It somehow gets the signal that it has been cancelled.
