If it were me with this problem, the first thing I would do is stop using the disk! The more stuff installed on it now the less chance there is of recovering anything from the "lost world". I am no data recovery expert, but I would connect up one of my "trash" or "sandbox" disks with a minimal XP installed as the master and connect the original one as a slave device to allow investigation to proceed without writing anything more to it. Others here may be able to recommend some decent software to assist in data recovery. Cheers. Spexx.
