Hey Phil, thanks for dropping by.
We can't make up your mind for you. I applied the Registry Edit because I didn't
want to get into the position of trying to follow MS KB308402 linked by Dan Sarandrea,
MCSE when trying to deal with a sick system.
To help you make up your mind you could try starting the Recovery Console, if it
starts without problems using either your Admin password or just hitting Enter then
you do not need to apply the edit, if it bombs at the request for a password then
you have to decide which way to go.
