I made a IE-less Windows CD a couple years ago with nlite. The trouble is you then need to get some third party software to do things Like Remove Programs, because that function is tied to IE in some way. As I remember about 5 or 6 key Windows functions stopped working after the removal of IE. All the problems had work a rounds, but was more of a pain then ir was worth.
