re: "windoms was unable to complete the disck check" Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 5:20 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Ram (3 messages posted) Sorry I meant Windows not Windoms and the reason I wanted to defragment was for no special reason but just for the purposes of managing the drives becuase I was told it was good to do so but your saying since it is NTFS, defragment wouldnt be useful , but shouldn't it still be able to run a defragment instead of a message popping which says " Disk defragmenter could not start". Furthermore when I use the command prompt by typing in chkdsk and then the appropriate switches (i.e. /c,/v,/f,/r etc.) it says that it had found some errors but wouldnt be able to corrrect unless i schedule a disk check upon reboot but when i do schedule a disk check, the disk check screen fails to appear on reboot. Your further help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
