You obviously didn't read what I wrote.
You are thinking about this the wrong way - the mechanism you are looking for if
there is one is specific to your model of Thinkpad - its whatever IBM did or
didn't do.
So there are two ways you can solve this:
1. You might stumble on it in your roundabout way, or you might not. That's the same
as the "trial and error" you were pointed towards.
2. Go to IBM or a hardware forum, to which you have already been pointed.
The point though is that no-one else here is likely to have any clue, or the means
to find out, how your particular machine was built by IBM.
You keep asserting things which are patently incorrect, ignoring advice and being
combative, so I'll stop contributing to this thread now.
