As you are such an expert, if you googled on the 'box being greyed out', it is a XP safe guard to prevent unauthorised alteration of file associations. And you have to enter the registry to alter a 1 to 0, and make the box no longer greyed out But it apparently, according to pages of forums,does not always work. And the forums include very many people asking the same question. The box should be open before you make any associations. I don't find your remarks insulting but childish.Why don't you just admit that you do not know the answer to my original question on restoring the box without being greyed out?
