Hi Nichola.
Martin has given you a brief explanation of the startup procedure to WinXP.
I've had problems with service packs. Mine is WinXP 2002 SP2 so I download SP3 from
Microsoft and save it to a flash drive and install it. Now I've done 3, SP3 updates
over the past few weeks only the first time it worked as it should. I do a restart
and Windows never starts up. I have to start in Safe Mode and uninstall SP3 from
Control Panel Add/Remove.
As for the Repair option of the WinXP CD I can never get that to work it comes up
with invalid folder well the installation put it there.
I've recently bought WinXP 2002 with SP3 so I don't have that problem now.
If WinXP was a decent operating system you could save all your important files in
DOS without using Windows. NTFS has no true DOS.
If you have the WinXP CD then do a format and a fresh install. ALWAYS remember with
WinXP backup important files, you won't be warned when problems occur.
