I had a problem that both of my DVD writers wouldn't autorun any CD/DVD. I didn't a search on M$ and found a link for additions for WinXP. In there there is an Autoplay Repair Wizard http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/resultsForProduct.aspx?displaylang=en&productID=4C937A02-BAE0-4317-A1A9-0C56CD979D05 . Click on the Results for: 40 at the bottom. Now the strange thing with this app is it will only fix one drive at a time. You have to do a restart before you can attempt to fix any other drive letter, it fixed my problem anyway. You can disable drive letters as well.
