lsass.exe + smss.exe Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at 1:30 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Si (1 messages posted) seem to have the same problem as everyone else. i have two copies of lsass.exe running, both about 800k, neither can be terminated; also have two versions of smss.exe - one of the processes is going mad with the memeory, increasing gradually upto 250MB!!!! then goes down again and restarts the loop. have a folder on root called WINNT, has no visible folders/files inside, even when folder view set to include hidden; properties states that size is 450MB, and that folder is read-only. when try to delete the folder get error saying cannot delete BugSlayerUtil.dll?! i know that there are hidden files contained in the WINNT (/etc/smss + lsass) cos did process scan using adaware. got no idea wot to do, as two of the process are critical system files. so frustrating...y do some people feel it necessary to hack into other peoples computers!!!
