Windows xp and SBC DSL service

I have completely setup a network connection to atempt to connect to sbc. Every time I attempt to connect to SBC via DSL in win XP I get an error code 678. I called SBC and they stated that there is nothing they can do. The darn connections keeps stating that it is connection through a WAN on PPPoe, shortly thereafter I get the error code 678. Is there anything that can be done to connect my computer via DSL. Everything is setup in my network to properly connect although I dunno where in the heck the WAN connection came in. HELP!

Setup your connection as if you are on a LAN, that should work.

there is a file upgrade at efficient networks site if you use that brand modem. But the catch is it is not endorsed by SBC yet, haven't tried it yet cause I can't get to that point from using XP!! Hehe. Let me know if it works!

The WAN is a term for your DSL = Wide Area Network. The PPPoe is PPP over ethernet. Sounds like it is setup correctly. I think the 678 error is a password error, but not sure...sorry!

1) Go to Start Menu -> RUN 2) Type "command" click OK 3) In the new window that pops up type this "NETSH INTERFACE IP RESET LOG.TXT" (Do not type the quotes just everything in between them, then hit enter. 4) Reboot, once you are returned to the commend prompt, and then close the command window. This should reset your TCP/IP parameters allowing you to connect again.
