Hi ... any ideas about this .... my DVD plays fine, except when I connect to the

Crappy server + crappy connection = crap
56k is not great for streaming video or audio. The server from which you listen
the audio from may also be slow. If this problem has never happened before, it is
most likely a software issue.

Scan for viruses if you haven't recently
D/L Spybot
and AdAware and
run them to eliminate spyware.
Go here and read
about XP services.
Read the articles listed in the Performance
link in the sidebar.
You should have at least 512MB of memory.

Almost all modems do most of their work in software. If your modem is hogging the
CPU, or if it is sharing an IRQ with your sound card, it is probably the cause of
your jittery sound. Switching to a hardware modem will probably solve your problem,
but they cost $60-$70, where software modems cost $10. I guess it depends on how
important it is to you to watch dvds on your computer and connect to the internet
at the same time.
Cheers,
CD
