I recently upgraded from ME to XP on my Pavilion that I have had for 3 years. Now
the modem is not working correctly with my ISP (Juno). Any suggestions?

You will need a new modem, or at the least a WinXP driver for the modem you have.
WinME and WinXP drivers are written for that O/S.

If you're lucky you will not have ME residue after the upgrade If you run into
problems along the line I strongly suggest backing up critical files then do a clean
install

The Pavillion probably uses a combo Modem/Sound card and there may not be suitable
drivers for it. I upgraded a Pavillion a couple years ago and research prior to
the upgrade divulged that there were no XP drivers for the combo card and HPmhad
no plans to support it, so I got a separate modem and sound card to replace the combo
card. Try the HP site for XP drivers, but understand that since they sell their
computers with an OS, providing drivers fro new OS' is a low priority ans even if
provided, they may not work right.

I downloaded a generic driver upgrade from Lucent Tech. the maker, do you think this
might solve the problem or do you simply suggest purchasing a new modem?

Uninstall the old driver first, then try the new driver, as
last resort, buy new modem. I hung on to one ME box
for another year, because I couldn't find a bunch of
drivers. Recently, I decided to try another look, and
I now have found all the drivers, and they worked. Good luck.

WinXP selects its own modem drivers which dont run properly..So you must go to ur
modem site and download its real XP driver
